Happy Valentine’s Day from the middle of the
You know its going to be a rough night when at
Woke up to really loud noises, the crew were banging pots and pans to wake us up for Neptune Day. King Neptune and Queen Manurva boarded our ship and said that we were not up to the challenge to cross their seas. The challenge: fish guts being poured over your head after which you jump in the pool, get out and kiss a fish. The optional challenge: to shave your head, which Lauren did- she has no hair and said I could have her shampoo. It was a fun day, but after working out (or trying to work out, after about 20 minutes I gave up) I was exhausted so I took a 2 hour nap.
Eating dinner was hilarious and kind of fun. Definitely, better than any ride at
Crossed over the Mid-Atlantic ridge this morning.
Sea depth: shallow ~ 4000 meters
Wind: light at 35 knots J
Swell height: I don’t know… but in a matter of seconds your window goes from dark ocean to sky (If you’re lucky to tell the difference.)
I can’t describe the pitching and rolling. It is fun, intense and often hilarious. I heard this isn’t even rough and that it only gets worst. Classes will be fun tomorrow. We have FOUR days until
Loose another hour of sleep tonight.
Happy Valentine’s Day! I miss you all!!

Hiya Megster!
Thank you for the postcard! We really enjoyed receiving that!
Sounds like you're doing very well... maybe you'll even be a teacher on these trips in the future...?
Rusty says thanks for the birthday wish and for remembering him; he loves you lots. It snowed on his birthday here and we have photos... about 4 inches stayed on the ground for more than a day. A regular winter wonderland.
Take care and live it up!!!
love you,

Hi Megs - Sounds pretty crazy on that boat. You didn't go for the head shave....grandpa Jack would have liked it, he always liked it when I got rid of my afro and shaved my head. I'm glad you are having the time of your life. Well I'm finishing up 5 days of Bryce and DJ visiting. They came up to Bishop to participate in Ira's Sports Camp. We had a lot of fun. Tonight at work (Whiskey Creek) it was pretty crazy. Laguna just started ski week and I met a lot of people that know MOM and you. It seemed like everyone from Laguna was heading to mammoth.
I am heading to Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo tomorrow for a week but I will catch up on your blog when I get back.
Keep enjoying your crazy adventures, love ira
Hi Megs!
Sorry for the delay in blogging back but your dad and I left on short notice for Mexico on Fri (2/15). Dad got the garage door up in the breezeway. He also took out the stairs leading up to the deck and enclosed the opening. He hung new paneling where he ripped out the stairs. The living room seems huge. He also put up fascia board in front above the garages. I helped when I could and also took walks every morning in the desert. There are yellow, purple and white wildflowers everywhere! There has been so much rain that the desert is green and colorful. The weather was perfect. The 110 atc wouldn't start and the 200 did. It was a work trip so not enough time to atc ride. We're waiting to do that when you come down (it's not as much fun without you). Tom said it's a good thing you didn't shave your head ~ not a good idea in foreign countries. Troy asks about you too. It's overcast and we got a little rain. The overcast is supposed to continue and more rain this Saturday. Thanks so much for the call. We saved your message. I got your e-postcard too. Glad you made it safely to Cape Town. Have fun with all you have planned there. We miss you and look forward to hearing from you again soon. Love and hugs, Dad and Val.
